New PDH Requirement for Illinois Surveyors
Beginning with license renewals after Jan. 1, 2020, licensed professionals who are required to obtain professional development hours will be required to obtain one hour of sexual harassment training as part of that requirement.
The new law defines sexual harassment as “any unwelcome sexual advances or requests for sexual favors or any conduct of a sexual nature when:
(i) submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of an individual’s employment;
(ii) submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for employment decisions affecting such individual; or
(iii) such conduct has the purpose or effect of substantially interfering with an individual’s work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment.”
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation is currently in the process of establishing rules regarding this new requirement. It is anticipated that all organizations approved to provide professional development for surveyors will also be approved to provide this training.
We are keeping a close eye on these developments and will be providing training to ensure our members can readily comply with the new requirement.
